Weird, But Cool

Jayse Weaver A short and sweet EP. My favorite track of the 3, Return to Nothing, sets the tone for the EP rather quickly. The vocals are distant but this matches the mood of the EP; the emotions conveyed feel distant but nonetheless tangible. The remaining two songs were tracked live, which is very evident as the songs feel very warm and lush. What I Want to Say is more upbeat than the first two more melancholic tracks, ending the EP on a happier note. Overall, a wonderfully simple EP. Favorite track: Return to Nothing :).

I'm so honored to be able to share these songs with the people I love. The first time this band got together we wrote Madison & Cleveland and as soon as we finished that first practice we all knew we were a part of something special. Almost a year and a half later we're able to share these pieces of ourselves and our love for eachother in hopes that we can, at the least, live a little brighter and breathe a little easier.

"Madison & Cleveland" and "What I Want to Say" were tracked live by Gil Worth at the Pezz practice space on Cleveland Street in Memphis, TN.

Track Name: Return to Nothing :)
I thought I was something, turns out I'm nothing. I thought you were helpless. I thought you were sweet. Now I'm not sure what that even means. I just feel rude for assuming.

I used to know how I was defined.
Turns out it's changing all of the time.

It can't be easy living out here. Do you wish their faces would all disappear? It's not what you want, but it's what you've got. It's not what you want. It's not what anyone wants.

I used to know how I was defined.
Turns out it's changing all of the time.
Track Name: Madison & Cleveland
Sitting in that windowsill seat
Comparing records and crushing caffeine
Mapping out all the places we'll see
And old friends we're still waiting to meet

So I'll meet you at the back gate
Where you tell me you want me to stay
And I do despite what I know
This won't end up how we hope

I don't love you
I love what you turn me into
Track Name: What I Want to Say
I don't know why you went so far away. I'm not sure what you had to find. I act like I've got nothing left to say while I pretend that I don't mind.

Don't ask me what I want. I don't want to say what I want to say.

Is your love a parlour trick? I'm looking for a sign. A hidden switch I might have missed. And I'm running out of time. The nights get short with each day that's passed as I get lost and I go blind. I don't want to tell you, but darlin' I'm not fine.

Don't ask me what I want. I don't want to say what I want to say.
